Aloha! I'm a shaman who loves adventure. I live, play and work passionately for all things in my life. I relish the moments before dawn and just during twilight the veil between realities is so thin and momentarily everything interacts, magic is created and miracles happen simply by being.

The intensity of my focus can be very high at times. I feel that's where you best encounter the magic this world has to offer. I think that if each of us takes the time we will find real honest magic all around us.

I perceive the glass as being full, accordingly I tend to misunderstand others when they dwell in a state of negativity, while realizing that we all get down at times and say or do things in haste that in no way represents who we really are, our honest feelings and thoughts, that's regrettable but all to often true.

I am a compassionate and devoted friend and father. I believe in family and that the gifts Ohana has to offer are unequalled anywhere else in life. I give of myself to a fault at times, but that's what makes me human ;) Maybe most importantly I believe in the concept of ALOHA and strive to live it every day.

Music... What else can I say I can't live without it. The festival vibe you get from live shows, especially those that are outdoors is utterly amazing. What types do I like, pretty much anything from, World, Alternative, Rock, New Age, Blues, to Jazz, and Classical. What I don't like is the commercialization that's fed to us on radio today. I support the small labels and the artists just trying to make a living, there's a lot of passion and magic out there that just doesn't make the airwaves...

Let's see, you want to know some artists don't you? Well there's, Michael Franti he's currently my favorite; Ben Harper, Rusted Root, Van Morrison, Neil Young, Hendrix, Tom Petty, Santanna, Rage, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Alanis, I could go on and on.... These are just a few mind you.

On another more personal note, I love to volunteer I am an activist and environmentalist searching for my niche, my passion. I don't believe war is ever the answer; peace and love are paramount and therein lies providence. Visit my website and check out my links page and you'll see some of the places I believe in. I support some actively, and some well, not so actively...

I love helping the little ones, our children are the salvation of the planet and we all owe them everything we can do to promote a healthy, vibrant, stable and peaceful world. To that end I love asking why not instead of accepting conventional methodology. Simply by asking I find that I learn so very much, I firmly believe that's the way you get to what's real the honest truth of the matter. Then that's me ;)...

What do I do for fun? I love to run, climb, bike (mountain and road), snorkel, dive, surf, read, learn new things and live for adventure big and small. Well I've babbled on and on for way too long, if you want to know more, or simply have questions or suggestions please drop me a line I'd love to hear from all of you!

Aloha & Mitakuye Oyasin

Hornet & The Femenine

Many indigenous cultures and shamanic traditions value the significance of "three". Three occurrences of anything should be all means grab our attention. Yesterday, I was going to sweep a porch off my bedroom and as soon as I stepped out a hornet hit me stinging my lower leg. This act occurred so quickly that It took me completely by surprise, so much so that I don't recall any pain until the second struck in a stealthily manner. Now I decided that I needed to find their hiding place and as I li… Continue

Journey or Destination

Today I had numerous experiences with people following me way to close and speeding off in such a hurry that they were missing all of the beauty and miracles surround us on the mornings commute. There was a pillar rainbow in the northwest area of the Salt Lake valley this morning, I felt blessed and honored to be in its presence something about it was mystical.

Then I wondered how many people in their routing of rush saw the rainbow and how many of them took enough time to offer thanks. Today o… Continue

Sacrifice?

I've been thinking a lot about societies conventions regarding the nobility of self sacrifice. Yesterday during lunch I overheard a woman proudly and feverously proclaim that sacrificing oneself for their family is the greatest, most noble achievement anyone could ever accomplish. Her words, her reality. Her proclamation reminded me about the Will Smith movie, 7 pounds, where he gives of himself in a quest for what I believe is redemption.

From a philosophical perspective, this made me wonder,… Continue

Let's Dance

Over the weekend I had the distinct pleasure of attending the Desert Rocks music festival just outside of Moab, UT. Thundershowers had been forecast for most of the weekend which proved to be accurate for Friday and Saturday. Saturday’s weather was a miracle to behold. The energy at the festival Saturday afternoon was magic and the music sweet.

This energy beckoned the thunder beings of the high desert calling them to come and play. Directly over the festival site the clouds came settling in la… Continue

Urban Shaman

Authors Metzner, Roszak, Cowan, Villoldo , and others have repeatedly pointed out, our “modern” world has become increasingly detached from anything natural. In our vain attempt to synthetically recreate or maybe more correctly to “create” we remove ourselves from the genetic need for contact with our natural environment. It seems that our conventional disposable society has evolved with an undercurrent that says our technological advances will create something else, newer and better if an eleme… Continue
